Rotary International school was established in 1993 as a sister institution of “Rotary hall” widely known for the supportive classes conducted for the GCE A/Ls students. The desire of the founder of both institutions, the late Dr. Thomas Rodrigo, was to provide all facilities for the academic advancement to children of middle income group parents.
The beginning of the Rotary International School was the nursery class level. The school grew along with children and now it has become a fully-fledged school with students sitting for GCE O/L and GCE A/L examinations.
While our students have shown their mark in the field of sports, they have equally shown their capability at debating, quiz competitions as well as in speech and drama competitions.
Awareness is made of the importance of our cultural values and religious beliefs. Visits and donations to the cancer hospital, blood donation campaigns in Vesak and Poson poya days are annual features while a Dhamma school is held on every Sunday.
In order to cater for the increasing admissions, anew branch was established at Delkanda. The responsibilities of steering these institutions are now in the hands of the heirs of the founder. The dedication and farsightedness of the director board have brought about marked improvements.
